  • McPhar International Awarded New Surveys in India


    January 2017 – The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has awarded McPhar International two contracts to undertake airborne magnetic gradiometer and radiometric surveys in India. These surveys are the first phase of the GSI’s Obvious Geological Potential (OGP) project. The primary purposeof the OGP project, according to GSI is to “is to acquire high quality, purpose oriented geo-scientific data. The data willaugment the understanding of the geology and mineral potential of India and help identify the areas for mineral resource potential in order to promote and sustain growthin the sector, and increase the contribution the mining sector to the national GDP.” The two contracts awarded to McPhar International, which includes data acquisition, data processing and interpretation, are for Blocks 1 and 4 for a total of 393,000 line-km of work. McPhar is mobilizing three aircraft to undertake this work, with data acquisition scheduled to start in the second half of March 2017.

  • McPhar International Completes second year of flying under contract to Geological Survey of India.

    January 2017 – In 2015 the Remote Sensing & Airborne Surveys division of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) awarded McPhar International a contract for the operation and maintenance of their deHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft (VT-ELX) equipped with a high-sensitivity magnetometer and radiometricsurvey system. The contract included a mandate to undertake the data acquisition and processing of 200,000 line-km of survey work in various locations of India.

    At the end of February 2017, McPhar successfully completed the flying of the second season’s work, resulting in a total of 134,000 line-km of data acquired and processed to date.Approximately 66,000 line-km of work remains to be undertaken during the 2017/2018 flying season.
